National Office of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine Relocating to Chicago

The president of American Academy of Sleep Medicine, Jon W. Shepard, announced that the Board of Directors granted final approval to relocate its national office to Chicago.

In 2003, the world will celebrate the 50 year anniversary of sleep medicine.

Sleep research and sleep medicine were born in Chicago in 1953, when Drs. Aserinsky and Kleitman discovered REM sleep and Dr. Dement led the sleep community from that point. Almost all major cities and countries have sleep research centers, but Chicago was and will be the heart of Sleep Medicine. WELCOME HOME!
