The hormone Orexin is absent in a person suffering from sleep attacks called narcolepsy. In the US, the diagnosis of “narcolepsy” has officially been given to about 135 thousand patients. This new medication will be good for patients who have problems with prolonged use of regular sleeping pills.

Interestingly, during clinical trials the same medication was helpful to curb craving for alcohol. The medication is expected to be on the market next year.
